"Women in comics" replay

Discover or rediscover the testimonies and advice of our four guests at this round table dedicated towomen in comics, organized to mark the 60th anniversary of GOBELINS PARIS.
Female illustrators currently represent only 12% of published illustrators. This event is part of GOBELINS Paris' commitment to promoting female talent in the creative and cultural industries , and to combating gender inequality and discrimination.
The event was hosted by Sophie Jean, Alumni Network Manager, and attended by :
- Sixtine Dano (Master in Character Animation and Animated Filmmaking, class of 2018): author and cartoonist, director, 2D animator and illustrator in children's publishing and the non-profit sector
- Claire Fauvel (Master in Character Animation and Animated Filmmaking, class of 2011): author and cartoonist.
- Audrey Lainé (3D Character Animator - 1 year programme, class of 2015): 3D animator and cartoonist.
- Diane Truc (Master in Character Animation and Animated Filmmaking, class of 2017): 2D animator and webtoon illustrator.
The discussions were structured around the following themes:
- Why comics: the appeal of comics, the link between animation and comics.
- Getting started in comics : how to find a publisher, how to make yourself known on the networks, mistakes to avoid...
- Writing and technique: scriptwriter/draftswoman collaboration, script construction, techniques and software used...
- Women and comics : making the most of your work, featuring female characters, reference female authors/drawers.
