Congratulations to Jérémie Périn and Denis Do, nominated for the 2024 Césars!

The official list of César 2024 nominations was announced yesterday, Wednesday January 24, 2024.

Two GOBELINS alumni are among the 111 nominations in the 24 César 2024 categories. Jérémie Périn (Animation Designer, class of 2000) was nominated in the " Best Animated Film " category for " Mars Express ", and Denis Do ( Animation Designer and Director, class of 2009), in the " Best Animated Short Film " category for " La Forêt de Mademoiselle Tang ".

Chaired by Valérie Lemercier, the 49th César Ceremony will take place on Friday February 23rd at 8:45pm at the Olympia. It will be broadcast free-to-air on CANAL+.

After numerous festival selections (Cannes, Annecy, Göteborg Film Festival, Rotterdam International Film Festival, Hong Kong French Film Festival, Golden Horse Film Festival in Taipei, Singapore French Film Festival, Festival du Nouveau Cinéma de Montréal...) Jérémie Périn's film is in the running for a César alongsideAlain Ughetto 's " Interdit aux chiens et aux italiens " and Chiara Maltaand Sébastien Laudenbach 's " Linda veut du poulet ".

Halfway between SF and film noir, this cyberpunk thriller tells the story of Aline Ruby, a stubborn private detective, and Carlos Rivera, an android replica of her partner who died 5 years earlier. The duo embark on a race against time across Mars to find Jun Chow, a cybernetics student on the run, before the mercenary assassins on her trail shoot her down.

For this new feature, Jérémie Périn reunited with his favorite team: Laurent Sarfati(script) and Michael Robert (art direction). Many GOBELINS alumni also worked on the film.

After receiving the Cristal du long métrage at Annecy in 2018, for " Funan ", his first feature film, inspired by the story of his mother, Denis Do has been selected for the César Awards for " La Forêt de Mademoiselle Tang ".

Co-produced by Creative Touch Studios and Pictanova and supported by Arte, the film was presented in an event screening at Annecy, and was also selected at BIAF, the Philadelphia American Film Festival, the Rhode Island International Film Festival , the Singapore Film Society, and Feinaki.

With this medium-length film, dubbed entirely in Teochew, a dialect from southern China, Denis Do continues his work on family, memory and transmission.

The film paints a picture of a six-generation family in Swatow, China, shaken by 200 years of the country's history. A deeply humanist family chronicle.

The film is competing alongside Charlie Belin 's "Drôle d'oiseaux" and Mathilde Bédouet's "Été 96 ".
