Congratulations to the team behind "The Shyness of Trees", shortlisted for the BAFTA Student Awards!

The BAFTA Student Awards celebrate the next generation of creative talent from around the world in film, animation, video games and immersive storytelling.


Shortlisted in the animation category, "The Shyness of Trees " will compete alongside two other films:

  • "A Sparrow's Song" by Tobias Eckerlin from the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Germany
  • "TRASH" by Gregory Bouzid, Maxime Crançon, Robin Delaporte, Mattéo Durand, Romain Fleischer, Alexis Le Ral, Margaux Lutz, Fanny Vecchie from ESMA.

The winners will be announced on Friday June 13, 2025, at a live ceremony at the Maybourne Beverly Hills. The animation award will be presented by Dani Bowman, CEO of DaniMation Entertainment.


"The Shyness of Trees" was directed by Sofiia Chuikovska, Loïck Du Plessis D'Argentré, Lina Han, Simin He, Jiaxin Huang, Maud Le Bras, Bingqing Shu, all graduates of the Master in Character Animation and Animated Filmmaking, class of 2024.
