Proposed by the DRAC Ile-de-France as part of theCultural Olympiad deployed throughout France until September 2024 by the "Paris 2024" Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the "Handesign" residency supports cultural and sporting initiatives integrating the participation of artists, sportspeople or the disabled public.

The aim of the residency is to design or improve sports objects or equipment, while involving disabled amateur or professional athletes in cultural activities combining art and sport.

The DRAC Ile-de-France is offering six design residency missions in a parasport environment, from March to September 2024.

The designer residencies are designed to provide an opportunity for artists in residence to meet and share with non-professionals members of the cultural community. It will also enable artists to engage in a process of experimentation.

The call for applications is open to professional object and graphic designers, alone or in groups, residing in France and able to demonstrate consistent artistic production and experience in the field of mediation or pedagogy.

The 6 winning designers will be hosted by 6 para-sport clubs in the Ile-de-France region to carry out research aimed at designing or improving sports objects or equipment for disabled amateur or professional athletes.

The winners will receive a €20,000 grant to help them carry out their project (including travel, accommodation and equipment costs, as well as funding for mediation and co-creation activities).

To apply: e-mail a CV, covering letter and a dossier presenting the applicant's approach and existing production to olympiadeculturelle.idf@culture.gouv.fr and aurelie.lesous@culture.gouv.fr before midnight February 18.
