5th Parliament of Photography

Organized by the French Ministry of Culture, the 5th Parliament of Photography will take place on Wednesday June 5 and Thursday June 6 at the Palais de Tokyo.

Entitled " Penser ensemble le futur de la photographie" (Thinking together about the future of photography ), this event is designed as a forum for exchange and dialogue between the various players in the field of photography (heritage, creation and photojournalism).

It will take place both face-to-face and remotely and will cover the following topics:

• Inclusivity in photography (combating discrimination, promoting multiple viewpoints and aesthetics)
• The Etats généraux de la photographie
• The CNAP photographic commission
• The future of press photo archives
• Artificial intelligence

This edition also features two alumni: Nolwenn Brod ( Post-production photographer, class of 2009) and Maxime Riché, (professional training in photo retouching, class of 2010).

Both winners of the Capsule program, which since 2020 has enabled artists to take up annual photographic residencies, they present "Riverrun " and "BLOC.En prise avec les sommets".

Initiated in Dublin in 2023, the project was carried out as part of Frutescens, the Centre photographique Rouen Normandie 's program dedicated to emerging French creative talent.

Inspired by James Joyce's "Finnegan's Wake" , this project "is a kind of meditation on the ages of life and on what beings share in any place and any time".

Represented by Galerie Vu', Nolwen Brod 's work has been the subject of several publications: "Va-t'en me perdre où tu voudras" published by Editions Poursuite in 2015 and "Les Dahlias" published by Editions Sur la crête in 2023. Two books will be published in 2025: "Le temps de l'immaturité" by Editions Lamaindonne and "Les Hautes Solitudes" by Editions Origini.

This project, the result of a joint residency at the Collège International de Photographie and La Capsule - photo creation residency in Le Bourget, focuses on climbing and body performance , and "traces the metamorphosis of man driven by his desire to explore the peaks of rock faces and inaccessible mountains".

Artist, researcher and photographer Maxime Riché's work revolves around an approach he describes as "speculative documentary", exploring our refusal to accept physical and philosophical limits, and its consequences for the planet.
