The film

"SÁMIS" - Roman Jehanno

Settled in northern Sweden, Finland and Lapland, the Sámis live in total symbiosis with their environment .

The film is an insight into their lives and their struggle to reinvent their identity while preserving their heritage.

They share their stories, their experiences and their concerns about the place of their ancestral culture in modern society .

The documentary is an opportunity to discover traditional Sámi art and cuisine , as well as joik, an emotionally-charged ancestral spiritual song.

During his trip, Roman also shot portraits and landscapes.

This photographic series combines intimate portraits of the Sámi people he met along the way with minimalist landscapes, offering a poetic look at the life and customs of this indigenous people.
