Graduating from the Bachelor Photographer and Videographer in 2023, Yama Ndiaye, won the Public Prize in the photo category at the 40th Hyères International Fashion, Photography and Accessories Festival .

Already winner of the Picto Prize for fashion photography in 2024, she was rewarded for her latest project, "Tangana".

Her work explores notions of identity and memory, closely linked to her dual Franco-Senegalese culture. Her photographs sublimate bodies and everyday objects , and reflect on the construction of black identities in Africa through a highly plastic approach.

"Tangana: heat. I remember this word tirelessly whispered by my aunts during the scorching afternoons in Senegal, flapping fans in hand. Lying on the leather sofa, I'd let the heat lull me, drifting between their voices and my own dreams."

The series is on show at the Villa Noailles until January 11, 2026, alongside the other works awarded at this 2025 edition of the festival.
