The Mona project is a 4-year experiment aimed at integrating European mobility into apprenticeship training programs. It involves 43 training centers across mainland France, including GOBELINS Paris.

Registered apprentices are given the opportunity tospend a minimum of eight weeks on professional mobility in Europe or abroad.

It was in this context that Léa Kasprowicz, a 3rd year student in the Bachelor Graphiste Motion Designer program, was welcomed by Charlotte Guilmard (a graduate of the Web Designer program in 2021), Graphic Designer for Gym Plus Australia , for a few months' internship in Melbourne, Australia.

They give us their feedback on this experience.

What was Lea's mission?

Léa: I worked on developing the visual identity for the rebranding in motion. I created reusable bases and templates for the brand, looked for sound signatures and movements consistent with the artistic direction, and made suggestions on animation and video.

How did your collaboration go?

Charlotte : Léa worked directly under my direction, and the collaboration went extremely well. She quickly adapted to our way of working and to themulticultural environment of our team.

Léa showed great creativity, genuine curiosity and flexibility in her proposals. Always open to feedback and energetically involved, she carries out her projects with seriousness and passion. She is also a pleasant and positive person , who has found her place very naturally. The whole team loved her!

Léa: Working with Charlotte went really well. She was very present and available to answer my questions. She had prepared my tasks and my arrival in advance, which made the start of the assignment very smooth. She gave me invaluable advice and was attentive to my logistical needs.

We also shared moments outside the professional framework, which made the experience even more human and enjoyable.

What have you gained from this experience?

Charlotte: We wanted to develop our animated content as part of our new rebranding, and Léa's fresh eye and graphic sensibility enabled us to go further than we had imagined.

It's always enriching to confront one's practice with new approaches, and with the eyes of a generation that 's very comfortable with digital tools and current visual trends.

On a personal note, I really enjoyed being able to communicate in French on a daily basis - which is quite rare in my Australian professional environment!

Léa: I've taken away a lot from it. I'm still assimilating everything I've experienced. Those two months seemed much longer, as I went through different emotional phases and discovered new aspects of myself. Professionally and personally, it's been a very enriching experience, and I' ve met some wonderful people !

Charlotte, why did you decide to take on a GOBELINS student as an intern?

Charlotte: I know the reputation of GOBELINS very well, and for good reason: I studied there myself. So I know that this reputation is based on high-quality teaching, rigorous student selection and exceptional pedagogical support.

Taking on a GOBELINS intern was my guarantee of a serious, creative and rewarding collaboration, for both the student and the company.

I knew I wasn't taking any risks, while at the same time having the chance to provide a great opportunity for international experience to a promising young talent.

Would you recommend the MONA experience?

Charlotte: Absolutely, it was a very positive experience, and I'd be delighted to welcome a GOBELINS student back. It's a collaboration that brings a real creative dynamism to our structure.

Léa : Yes, without hesitation. It's an experience that lets you rediscover yourself, grow and broaden your vision of work and yourself.

What do you think makes the Australian work experience particularly rewarding?

Charlotte: Working in Australia meansleaving your comfort zone: you're evolving in another language, another culture, another work rhythm. You have to adapt and integrate into a new team and a different way of life.

It's an experience that develops your self-confidence, autonomy and open-mindedness. You have to be a bit adventurous to try it - but that's exactly what makes it so formative and memorable.

Léa: The Australian team was very welcoming and caring.

I took advantage of my first week there to discover the city. I got a bit lost exploring the different neighborhoods, and the time difference was a bit of a challenge, but I was able to attend a V-jing audio-reactive performance by Ryoji Ikeda, one of my favorite artists! I also took part in a hip-hop event in the Footscray district, which gave me the opportunity to discover Melbourne's hip-hop community and take part in other events.

What steps do I need to take to work or do an internship in Australia?

Charlotte: In Léa's case, the formalities were very straightforward: she came with a Working Holiday Visa and an internship agreement signed by GOBELINS. Australia is quite flexible in this respect, as long as the conditions of the visa are respected and the framework of the internship is well defined in advance.

Love it
