In December, you can take part in the Villa Noailles fashion photography competition, imagine an artistic project reflecting current social issues with the BMW Art Makers prize, or highlight French farmers with the Agrica competition.

Villa Noailles photography competition

Since 1997, La villa Noaille has organized a competition to discover and support young international photographers, as part of the Festival International de Mode, de Photographie et d'Accessoires de Hyères. The39th edition of the festival will be held from October 10 to 13, 2024 .

 

The competitions bring together ten fashion designers, ten photographers and ten accessory designers, selected by professional juries. The selected photographers' creations are presented in the form of a group exhibition.

 

 

The awards:

  • The Grand Prix du jury de la Photographie 7L with the production of a book published by Editions 7L, a book launch party and an exhibition. The winner's work will also be exhibited at the Ville Noailles during the 2025 edition of the festival. The Grand Prix also includes a €20,000 prize from CHANEL and 3 days' studio time with sunny side studio equipment, donated by Kitten and Sheriff Projects.

  • The American Vintage Photography Prize: the 10 candidates selected by the jury will be asked to create a unique print using American Vintage brand items. The photographs will be exhibited at the Ville Noailles during the 2023 edition of the festival. An endowment of €15,000 (including €5,000 for the winner) accompanies the prize.

 

The 4 finalist photographers will also have the opportunity to talk to members of the jury, the press and professionals during the festival.

The competition is not genre-specific, but still life and fashion photography are favored. Both personal and commissioned work is accepted, but only photographers who have not already been exhibited in an international gallery or cultural institution may enter.

 

To apply, you need to e-mail 20 images from one or two series already produced, and if your application is accepted, send prints of these 20 images to the villa Noailles association.

 

Applications are accepted up to and including December 12, 2023.

BMW Art Makers Prize

Following on from the BMW Residency, the BMW Group France has created the BMW Art Makers program in 2021, with the aim of supporting emerging creation and experimentation with images (digital art, photography, film, video, computer-generated, virtual and digital images).

 

Each year, the program offers a bursary and a research and creation budget to an artist-curator duo for the production and staging of an artistic creation project addressing major societal and environmental issues.

 

The grant is divided between the curator and the artist, with€8,000 for the former and €10,000 for the latter. The research and production budget is €15,000. The prize also includes mentoring by jury members and communication support. The works produced will be exhibited at Paris Photo.

 

The project must be feasible in 5 months, and provide an artistic perspective on current social issues . The scenography must be designed to use resources sparingly.

 

The application file must include a note of intent on the scenography, two series of works by the artist and two images of the scenography created by the curator.

 

Applications are open until December 20, 2023 on the dedicated platform.

 

 

 

nouveaux regards photo contest - Groupe AGRICA



Agrica "Nouveaux regards" photo competition

Agrica, the agricultural insurer, has launched a photo competition this year, with the aim of combining photography and the world of agriculture.

 

The competition is open to students and former students who have graduated within the last 2 years.

 

Three themes are proposed: "Les Pieds sur terre" (Feet on the ground ) to highlight farmers who were not predisposed to this profession, "Terres d'exception" (Lands of exception ) to highlight the history and diversity of terroirs, and "Villes en vert" (Cities in green ) to explore the history of French gardens.

To apply, you'll need to send in 1 to 15 images on one of these themes, along with a short motivation text.

The 13 winning projects will be exhibited on the Agrica Group stand at the next Salon international de l'agriculture , to be held from February 24 to March 03, 2024.

 

The prize also offers 3 endowments divided as follows: €8,000 for 1st prize (accompanied by the production of a print to be exhibited at the Salon de l'agriculture) €4,000 for 2nd prize and €2,000 for 3rd prize. These prizes can be used to purchase photo equipment.

The deadline for entries is January 21, 2024.
