Cosmic Shelter - An immersive, interactive experience studio created by alumni
A veritable breeding ground for talent "made in GOBELINS", Cosmic Shelter was co-founded in December 2021 by Luc Miramont, Philippe Bois (graduates of the Master in Design and Management of Interactive Innovation in 2022 and 2023) and William Losik (a graduate of the 4D Cinema Motion Designer program), in association with Damien Hurstel. Specializing in the creation of 3D content and immersion, the studio now works for some of the world's leading luxury brands, notably those of the LVMH group (Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Sephora...), for whom Cosmic Shelter produced the microverse "La Maison de toutes les Victoires" for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Cosmic Shelter in a nutshell?
We are a creative studio specializing in the conception, design and production of immersive experiences and 3D content. We support our customers from brand strategy through asset modeling to experience deployment.
Committed to digital responsibility, our experiences are both sustainable (low carbon emissions) and accessible.

How did Cosmic Shelter come about?
Luc and I have known each other for over 10 years. Back then, we decided to apply to GOBELINS together. The Cosmic Shelter adventure was born out of our meeting with Damien Hurstel, CEO of Good Story, a company specializing in event creation.
After the pandemic, in the midst of the Metaverse and Web 3 wave, we went against the grain with our microverses, tailor-made web experiences to match our customers' identities, needs and audiences.
This hyper-customization of our experiences very quickly led us naturally to theluxury goods industry. Two and a half years later, we're working with 80% of the companies in this sector, we're +25 talents (mostly alumni of the school like Chloé Sans, Léo Mouraire and Serge Bocancea) and we've just inaugurated our new offices on Quai de Jemmapes.

What kind of services do you offer?
We support our customers throughout their value chain, from identifying needs to scaling up. This support is divided into three distinct and complementary offerings.
- Brand strategy and customer experience enhancement
We co-write a long-term strategy with our customers to create experiences that make sense in terms of their objectives, identity and audience. We want to avoid, at all costs, the pitfalls of the Metaverse and Web3, which saw a proliferation of "one-shot" activations with no concrete impact.
We keep pace with our customers by means of Proof of Concept (or POC) projects, so as to raise awareness among all the departments concerned, and to ensure integration into the overall strategy on launch day.
We also support certain customers in meeting technical challenges through R&D , to givethem a better grasp of existing technologies and the challenges of creating immersive experiences.
- 3D content creation:
We help our customers develop their library of 3D assets, from modeling to optimization. We provide art direction expertise throughout the process to create content that is both differentiating and in line with their brand identity.
These 3D assets can then be used fora 360° product viewer (which we recently did for the leather goods brand Patou) or for short-format motion graphics for Instagram or TikTok, right through to short films. For example, we produced a thirteen-minute film on the values of the Maison Cartier.
- Immersive experiences
We offer several immersion formats :
-web immersion through our microverse;
- from mixed reality, AR to VR, we work with several softwares and devices. We recently developed the Sephora Fruit Game for the Apple Vision Pro;
- immersive experiences anchored in a physical environment through connected devices. For example, we designed an interactive table, holograms and 3D videos for Guerlain , which were then installed and broadcast in various airports.

The majority of the team is made up of GOBELINS alumni, why did you choose this?
The Master's degree in Interactive Design and Innovation Management has been very inspiring for us, particularly in terms of the collaboration between the two "designer" and "developer" options. It's an organization that can't be found in any other school, and which enables us to create unique projects.
We wanted to extend this collaboration and sharing between the technical and creative teams by choosing to recruit GOBELINS alumni.
This choice of recruitment also means we can besure of working with profiles with knowledge of WebGI technology and 3D optimization, two strong points of this course.

How did your training at GOBELINS Paris help you?
This collaboration between developers and designers enabled us to understand the constraints specific to both professions.
As a designer, it's invaluable to know the technical constraints of 3D and WebGL technology, to know what can and can't be done. This prior technical knowledge allows us to save time and move in the right direction from ideation to design. It also prevents us from creating projects that can't be realized, or with a poor final rendering.
The training also taught us to be very independent. We had a lot of time to work independently in groups. This system is a good way of encouraging us to look for information ourselves, and to collaborate between developers and designers.

Which project has impressed you the most?
I immediately think of our latest project. As part of a partnership between the LVMH group and the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we conceptualized, designed and developed the " La Maison de toutes les victoires " website.
We had two months to complete this project, the aim of which was to showcase the expertise of the LVMH group's Houses (Louis Vuitton, Berluti, Chaumet, Dior, etc.) and their involvement in the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We had the opportunity to work very closely with each of these brands. It was a challenge both in terms of deadlines and project management. We had an enormous amount to clarify and organize in a very short space of time.
We presented the project at Vivatech, on the LVHM stand. Visitors to the show, as well as Bernard Arnault, were able to preview the experience. It was an important step for us to be able to unveil this project to the general public.

How do you see the studio's future?
Our acceleration strategy focuses on three main priorities:
- recruiting talent: we have opened up three senior positions (in UX/UI, AD and Production), and are continuing to take on work-study students from Gobelins (in 3D from September);
- business development : thanks to the diversification of both our offering (Physical Pop Up, Immersive Convention, Gaming) and industries (Sport & Entertainment);
- international expansion: with the creation of an office dedicated to the US market in Austin, Texas, and participation in major events on the tech and creative industries scene (CES in Las Vegas, NRF in NYC and SXSW in Austin).

What advice would you give to a recent graduate?
There are no magic tips, but the two most important things are tobe autonomous and to know how to create opportunities for yourself .Don't be afraid to dig deep, to keep an eye on the subjects you're passionate about, so you don't get stuck on what you've got.
You have to know how to make your own luck when it comes to freelance assignments, by taking part in trade shows, creative exhibitions, sharing your work on networks... There's an element of chance, but it's one you can sometimes shake up. And that's what Cosmic Shelter is all about: our various encounters have led to the creation of this extraordinary human adventure.
